Sea Hugger is a nonprofit organization focused on protecting and healing the marine environment from plastic pollution through action and education to drive systemic change that addresses the root cause of the issue. Our mission is to educate the public to reduce plastic dependency, while focusing on protecting the marine environment, ensuring the intrinsic rights of aquatic life, and helping create sustainable communities that are no longer affected by plastic pollution.

the role:

Experience requirements:

  • Marketing degree/background

  • Access to and experience using Adobe Illustrator

  • Experience with Google Ads, Mailchimp, Squarespace, Meta Business Suite

  • Knowledge of current social media and general marketing trends

  • Available to meet virtually (or in person depending on location) on a regular basis

  • Strong work ethic to accomplish tasks in a timely manner

  • Nice to have: knowledge of the environmental, plastic-free, zero-waste movement

Role Duties:

  • Assist our Creative Marketing Director in all marketing efforts from July - November 2024.

  • Manage posts on all Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and potentially other platforms including responding to messages. You will manage our company image in a cohesive way to achieve our marketing goals.

  • Effectively communicate our organization’s views creatively through creating Google ads and our social media presence.

  • Handle our digital presence ensuring high levels of web traffic and customer/community engagement for Sea Hugger through social media channels, email marketing, and support our on-the-ground team with additional marketing as needed.

  • Design and implement digital marketing strategy to align with business goals.

  • Set specific objectives and report on ROI/analytics to refine strategy and understand the audience.

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure brand consistency.

  • Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor customer reviews.

  • Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness, like promotions, giveaways, and competitions.

  • Evaluate new existing partnerships in light of target audience reach, and also revenue/fundraising potential.

  • Improve existing partnerships by re-evaluating plus re-planning marketing activities if revenue transactions are not meeting expectations.

  • Provide leadership on strategies that will drive sales through marketing and partnerships.

  • Work with the Team to create and execute event promotions if needed.

  • Work with the Marketing team to analyze results of giveaways, and marketing collaborations and provide recommendations for future activities.

  • Learn and adapt to marketing platforms necessary (based on trends and organization’s preferences).
