Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Half Moon Bay, CA
Time Commitment: 2 to 4 hours per month
Compensation: Volunteer role, not paid

What You’ll Do

You will help grow and support the community behind Sea Hugger. 

You will maintain a list of volunteers, encourage them to get involved at events, recommend ones that might be willing to lead. You will also help us bring in new people who care about protecting the ocean.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a list of volunteers and help coordinate volunteers for events

• Send simple reminders and event details ahead of time

• Reach out to new volunteers through local groups, word of mouth, and partnerships

• Keep a basic record of who attends and stays involved

Events Co-Lead

Location: Half Moon Bay, CA
Time Commitment: 8 to 12 hours per month

What You’ll Do

You will work alongside our Events Coordinator to bring events to life. This role is hands-on. You will help plan, prep, and run events from start to finish.

Some days that means picking up supplies. Some days it means setting up a table and talking with people about what we do. You will help make sure everything runs smoothly and feels welcoming.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and coordination of events

• Pick up and organize supplies

• Help with setup, tabling, and breakdown

• Be present during events to support flow and engagement

Beach Cleanup Site Captain

Location: Half Moon Bay, CA
Time Commitment: 2 to 4 hours per month

What You’ll Do

You will help lead our beach cleanups on the ground. You are one of the first people volunteers meet and one of the last they remember.

You will help create a smooth, organized experience while keeping the energy positive and focused. You will also help connect the work to the bigger picture of ocean protection.

Responsibilities

• Help transport and set up cleanup supplies

• Greet volunteers and get them started

• Track and log trash collected

• Share simple context about plastic pollution and why the work matters

• Help keep the group engaged and supported

Education Coordinator

Location: Half Moon Bay, CA
Time Commitment: 2 to 4 hours per month

What You’ll Do

You will help us grow our school education program.

You will connect with local schools to support oceans week, organize beach cleanups and plan assemblies or other classroom support.  Collaborate with partners like Pacific Beach Coalition.

Responsibilities

• Work with our event coordinator to rebuild solid relationships with all coastside schools

• Reach out to assigned schools create an ongoing relationship

• Understand oceans week schedules and plan hands on activities 

• Work with schools to organize beach cleanups

• Lead activity or coordinate with our team on scheduling and planning

• Keep simple notes on outreach and responses

Corporate Beach Cleanup Liaison

Location: Half Moon Bay, CA

You will help us grow our corporate cleanup program. This work brings in new groups, builds relationships, and expands our impact.

You will connect with companies who have worked with us before and reach out to new ones who want to support hands-on environmental work.

Responsibilities

• Reach out to past corporate partners to reconnect

• Identify and contact new companies interested in hosting cleanups

• Host the cleanup and coordinate with our team on scheduling and planning

• Keep simple notes on outreach and responses

Inventory Manager for Events

Location: Half Moon Bay, CA
Time Commitment: 2 to 4 hours per month
Compensation: Volunteer role, not paid

What You’ll Do

You will track the merchandise brought to events, sold at the events, and the ending inventory on hand.

You will reconcile the merchandise sold to the revenue collected from various tender types we use and report out to the board officers what was sold by category and tender type..

Responsibilities

• Prep the merchandise bins with available inventory

• Create a worksheet for each event that lists the quantities of each item brought to the event

• After the event, count the ending on hand to calculate how many were sold of each item

• Pull reports for revenue collected from Venmo and Square, count the cash, and reconcile the revenue collected with the inventory that was depleted

• Update the officers on what was sold by revenue type, and a summary of the top selling items

• Update inventory on the web site to reflect the new quantity available to sell
